The “Fundraiser for Puerto Rico” event was held on ASU’s Tempe campus on January 17th from 10:00-2:00 p.m. The Halsten Enterprise Club utilized Hayden Lawn during its busiest time of day. Along with the partnering of The Peach Corps Club, The American Red Cross Club, and local artists under Intellect Studios were able to raise awareness of the destruction and destabilization that has occurred on the island of Puerto Rico following this past hurricane season. The artists had built a comprehensive list of Puerto Rican artists and hip/hop and DJ’d to attract students to our location. Our team was able to secure $180 in donations to send medicine to Puerto Rico.
People who donated $15 or more were able to receive a shirt made from local artist, Eden Rain McNutt. All donations will go towards the fundraiser. While tabling we were invited to work with Gammage Scholars, to table and engage students on February 8th from 1-4 p.m. on Hayden Lawn.
The whole event on January 17th should be considered a success and our members and partners had met above expectations for their work either setting up the event, breaking down the event, engaging students, or posting to our social media platforms.
